Pruning and Trimming

Pruning

There are many times when pruning can not only preserve a tree (instead of complete removal) but can beautify, balance, encourage proper growth, protect it from breakage as well as encourage fruit production.

Our crews are trained to use proper pruning techniques to protect the health of the tree and if necessary to use corrective pruning to encourage proper growth. It is recommended that young trees be trained with careful trimming/pruning to establish a pleasing form, strong correctly spaced supporting limbs, and for optimal fruit production. Once trained, light maintenance pruning every several years is preferable as opposed to a 'hard pruning' after years of unchecked growth.

Our crews have experience and the equipment to trim back limbs and branches from property lines and remove 'hangers' after wind or ice storms. They have years of experience in recognizing 'hazard branches and limbs' and can advise on removing those as well.

There are many other reasons a person may want to prune or trim their trees: removing unstable or diseased limbs that may fail during storms, thinning branches and limbs for a better view, to enhance form and balance, to reduce the overall size, trim away from structures and to allow vehicle and pedestrian traffic, to allow utility line clearance to name a few.
